A dreamer is a person who dreams about being successful not understanding theirs alot of work and investing that needs to be done. Most indie artists that has no clue of the business are the first ones to complain about getting paid. To receive a royalty check someone must BUY your music. Facebook likes do not mean you will be receiving a check. Posting in facebook music groups is the same as performing in front of other artists. This will not help sales of your music it makes you look weak! Stop begging people or getting mad because they are not supporting you. What have you done to support yourself? How can a $25.00 a month promotions package help you sale units? Real indie artists are spending 5k - 10k on their projects to get it to major outlets. You will never make it on a shoestring budget you will need a investor or you will stay a dreamer. Remember theirs no love in the music industry and labels only will sign artists that has a fan base. Most indie artists don't know or follow the correct steps to release a single. You can not say you're releasing a single in July and start promotions in July. Or release a single in August and start promotions in August. Your marketing needs to start a month or two before the release. All radio stations must have your single already in rotation. You social media marketing campaigns should also be in place. Posting all day in facebook music groups IS NOT Promotions. Your video needs to already be in rotation (YouTube and Vevo) halfway marketing will not make your single a success. You should be getting radio interviews weekly putting the word out about your single. Most will not follow these guidelines & will not sale over 10 units online. Because of bad marketing and advertising.

Today's job of being a A&R in 2017 has changed. A&Rs can & will not sign you because they think you're a good artist. You must have proof that you have a fan base and able to sale music. A&Rs can provide tools and information to make the journey smooth. But remember without radio marketing and a strong social media marketing you will be another person thinking you're a artist. Millions of artists makes music and post on facebook everyday. 99% are lying to you about how well they are doing just to make themselves feel good. 80% are buying fake views and attending hood shows by janky promoter's. Most artists don't know the business of music and will listen to anybody. Why would you take advice from someone who doesn't have a fan base or haven't moved any major units? Being a independent artist is not about making music and posting about you're the hottest thing since sliced bread! To achieve any success you must study the business and follow the rules. The first rule is patients nothing happens over night! Do you know it takes 3-5 years to break a new artist? Do you know you will need a REAL budget for your music? Please stop letting people sale you dreams and stop thinking you know it all! A major label A&R can not help you get signed or move your career in the right direction. Facts! Most artists dont focus on timing or focusing on one song at a time. many indie artists drop songs after songs with no promotions or marketing. Many wait too long to even invest in one song. why would you have a good song and only share it on facebook? You should have that song on YouTube, Vevo including all video outlets. Your next step should be getting it to national radio markets outside your city to build a fan base. Stop saying you're trying to build a fan base when you won't invest in marketing or radio campaigns. Remember this is a business. The artists that understands are the ones that's successful. Don't be dreaming about blowing up make it happen stop following what other indie artists are doing focus on building relationships with major DJs outside your city travel to other markets with physical CDs to sale and give away. You must be constantly moving and getting your single to as many people as possible. Remember again this is a Business!
