How to really get booked for shows

Image
So you have sold a couple digital downloads & your royalty payment was $100 This does not mean you will be booked for shows. So what does being book for a show mean? Ok well first you are being paid to perform at a venue. Doing open mics are not the same. To really get booked you must have a fan base. Most start up managers will blow a artist head up. Telling them they are the next big thing since sliced bread. Offering them shows but no pay. Artists must understand really how the business works. No one is going to pay to see someone without a hit record or someone they don't know. Having digital distribution is not enough. You will need marketing campaigns and promotions. Now ask yourself what blogs are you featured in? What magazines are you in? Do you have FM radio campaigns? Are you out in your city getting sales from your music? If you're not you will never reach your goal. No management will be able to help you if you don't help yourself. Now ask yourself i...

Learn the business of music

Image
The music industry is a very different business these days. You have starts up labels on every corner most are just that. Having a label means putting together a campaign that will help the artists or artists on your label. It has nothing to do with having your artists perform at club after club for free!!! That is not the way to run a label. You must have distribution with release dates for all projects to be released. Promotional & marketing budgets must be in place. Street teams are your next step this will give you coverage on the area you need to target. All social media marketing campaigns must work together with your street team. You must have a strong online buzz & I'm not talking about posting on facebook or twitter. You should have a PR company to have you featured in blogs & magazines. Photo shoots are also very important. Make sure you have nice clear pics. Now let's get to the business.

T.E.A.M (why youre not successful with your music)

Image
Why your music is not moving any units? 80% of artists are like hoes jumping from management to management or indie label. Most of them will blame the label or management. When they feel they are not succeeding. But let's take a closer look. Did you promote & market yourself? Did you have a budget for FM radio? Did you have a budget for indie magazines & major magazines? No!!! Did you press up CDs & get out in the streets & sale them? No!!!! Did you throw a album release party? No!!!! Most artist don't know the real work it takes to put out a project. No indie label going to invest a penny if you don't invest in yourself. But let's forget about investing. The best thing you should do is (READ) about the music industry. Don't look at major artists & think its a. Piece of cake because you will have to work your ass off to succeed. When you wake up music should be on your mind. When you're eating music should be on your mind. Because only the...

Are you a indie artist or rapper

Image
Are you a indie artist? No you are a rapper. This is what rappers do= release mixtapes after mixtape. Post all day in facebook music groups, Perform at all the local clubs in the city. Tag friends on facebook & club every weekend. How will this get you real fans? Most will never learn because they surround they self with people that don't know the business. Bad management telling them that they could get them a deal. Really? No label or major artist going to sign you if you don't have real fans. Or a regional following. Local friends are not fans they will never purchase your music at all. You need to focus on being a indie artist. So what does a indie artist do? First they put out good music. With marketing campaigns & promotions. Hire a PR team setup a promotional tour 5-6 cities. Drop music worldwide on Online platforms. Get music to radio the correct way. Get in national magazines & blog sites. Doing this will put new eyes on you. & you will look more pro...

Do Alabama artists know how to promote?

Image
Do alabama artist really know how to promote their music? Lets take a look & see why you are stuck in your city. As we pay close attention to most artist in this city we see artist doing the same things over & over. Release a mixtape post it on Datpiff & promote in the city for one month then its on to the next mixtape Remember to really break a mixtape it takes at least 4-5 months. Also after you promote in your city you must reach out to other states & cities near by. Posting your music in facebook music groups is a waste of time. You will need real promotions and marketing. I also see major radio stations in the city having open mics. Why would you spend your valuable time to perform for a major radio station open MIC. When they wont play your music on the air? That's stupid!! Artists need to learn the business. Dropping Mixtape after mixtape. Also remember your hood only loves you on facebook. Get out and create real fans of your music & don't be afra...
